Activity Description

Duration: 4-5 hours (min 16 years and above)

Our first Grade 5 rapid of the day is ‘Overtime’, which is a complex water fall, with an exciting drop depending on the water levels of the day. Shortly after this you enter ‘Retrospect’, a Grade 4 stopper wave with a roller coaster wave train following.

With a calm section of the river ahead, your group has time to take in the scenery and wildlife on the Nile.

A short paddle later and Bubugo is beckoning and is a Grade 4 rapid offering you another adrenalin pumping experience! Just after Bubugo you have the opportunity to view our new developments at Itanda Falls, Kalagala Falls and Wildwaters Lodge, where we are developing the largest adventure camp on the Nile!

Grade 5 Rafting FAQ's

What should I wear?

Full Piece bathing suits.

Light clothing, shorts and a rash vest would be ideal, but if not consider a long sleeve t-shirt as the sun on the river can be fierce.

Sun hat or cap (optional).

What should I bring?

We recommend you take a small bag with a towel and a change of clothes for the end of the day, this will be kept on our vehicle and meet you at the finish point.

Other items: Any medication you require and money for any optional extras.

Can I bring my camera?

We strongly recommend you leave your camera, jewellery and any valuables at home.

What if the weather conditions are not ideal?

We operate under all weather conditions.

It is summer all year-round in Uganda. The country straddles the equator which means there is no winter and no summer months and you can come at any time of the year. Temperatures in most parts of the country vary between 25°C and 30°C (77°F and 86°F) dropping only by 5°C overnight. Traditionally May and November are the wetter months in the country where morning cloud build – ups are followed by torrential rain and spectacular thunder and lightening shows.

Is there an age limit?

We can take kids younger than 16 under the following conditions:

They must fit into an adult life jacket | They are aware that there is a compulsory walk around two rapids | All children will be vetted by the Trip Leader or Ops Manager on the morning of the trip to make sure they know what they are in for. This is still a really fun trip, but for Adrift safety is of paramount importance to us and the youngsters are not an exception to this.

We spent 3 nights at River Club and thoroughly enjoyed out time on the Nile, the view from the rooms and the restaurant are amazing and we spent hours just hanging out watching the Nile below us, the fisherman were catching fresh fish that they bring to the kitchen and we ate the freshest fish we have ever eaten. The staff all come from the local village and they are some of the kindest and friendliest people we met in 3 weeks in Uganda.
